TRAINING SERVICES

The Dog Days training program is formulated to provide increased canine enrichment (physical and mental stimulation) to specifically complement the physical exercise and mental engagement that socializing and playing at Dog Days already provides. Training services are only scheduled as 60 minute, add-on services to daycare or overnight boarding reservations. Lessons are provided by the expert certified trainers of Pack Method Prep, an esteemed San Diego dog training company.

Any of the training options below can improve your dog’s obedience levels and desired behaviors, especially if you are scheduling them regularly, but you should not expect consistent results and progress unless you are scheduling training sessions at least 2x a week for a month minimum (or at your trainer’s recommendation). Intermittent (less than 2x a week) training sessions are great for maintenance or improvement of existing skills or for increased enrichment that works your dog’s body and mind!

These are “dog only lessons” which means that your trainer will pick up your dog from Dog Days at the scheduled time and send over updates directly to you. If you need private training lessons at home or including yourself or even a more intensive bootcamp style program, please consult your trainer.

**Fearful and/or reactive dogs may still qualify for Dog Days training options with free consultation!

Brain Games & Sensory Enrichment: Engage your dog’s mind and body at the same time through various science-based activities that activate and fulfill natural canine needs! Canine enrichment provides physical exercise and mental stimulation that strengthens emotional regulation for under/overstimulated dogs and happy, calming dopamine release for high-strung or worried dogs. Examples of activities include:

  • Nosework: Using their nose to search for and locate objects or rewards on verbal cue, promoting self-calming behavior.

  • Urban Parkour: Navigating natural and manmade obstacles and terrain by running, jumping, and climbing in an urban setting with positive reinforcement.

  • Body Awareness: Fitness and coordination taught through specific movement cues, target training, and increasingly difficult task challenges to increase mind to body connection, limb dexterity, and balance.

Structured Play & Drive Development: Play is a critical component of dog behavior and training, so providing structure and control during play gives dogs the outlet their brains are seeking. Play-based obedience training increases the reliability of their obedience cues and also keeps their bodies healthy and their attention focused on handler/owner. Highly recommended for working breed types! Examples of activities include:

  • Flirt Pole: Building impulse control and obedience, intro to lure course concepts, fulfilling prey drive

  • Bite games/tug of war: Building impulse control and obedience, providing enrichment and fulfillment for dogs with strong bite and prey drive

  • Fetch: Building impulse control and obedience, intro to tracking/advanced retrieval concepts
